In addition to confirming the signing of Quebec defenceman Jason Demers, the Edmonton Oilers have signed Jake Virtanen to a professional trial.
The 26-year-old forward was charged with sexual assault in 2017 before being found not guilty last July by a Vancouver jury.
Last season in the KHL, the former sixth overall pick of the Vancouver Canucks in 2014 had 16 points in 36 games.
In his NHL career, Virtanen has scored 100 points in 317 games.
