Slovak hockey is solving an unpleasant case. At the St. Nicholas floorball tournament of secondary schools in Nitra, a bloody incident took place, in which a pair of representatives, players of HK Nitra, are supposed to be involved.
It should be 18-year-old Adam Sykora and 17-year-old Ondrej Molnar.
Sykora, drafted by the New York Rangers in the 2nd round in July, and Molnár, who is expected to go high in the 2023 NHL draft, participated in the tournament wearing the Nitrian High School jersey.
At the end of the match against Zlaty Moravci, one of the visiting team should have fouled Sykora. The conflict escalated into a brawl involving several players.
After the fight, a Zlaty Moraviec player was left lying on the ground covered in blood, and ended up in the hospital with a fractured jaw.
"So, as a person who was there and watched it from the stands, it was caused by a tackle on Sykora, which was on the verge of a foul, although as a floorball player I would not consider it a foul. After this tackle, Adam Sykora ran after the guy, what's wrong with him he did and grabbed him by the neck.
Subsequently, the other players of Nitra also ran into the fight and started fighting there, and then almost everyone fought. There is an injured player from Zlaty Moraviec who Molnar totally beat with his fists," reads one of the reactions on Twitter.
The incident at the school tournament was also confirmed by the police. The case is being investigated as disorderly conduct and bodily harm. She took one of the aggressors, supposed to be Molnar, for questioning and then released him. Criminal proceedings have been initiated in the case.
"On 07/12/2022 at around 09:00 a.m. in the city of Nitra, on the playing surface of the floorball field of the City Sports Hall, i.e. in a place accessible to the public, an offense of disorderly conduct in conjunction with bodily harm occurred.
'The police are investigating the circumstances of this incident, therefore we will not provide any further information on the facts discovered so far." Renáta Cuhákova, head of the communication and prevention department at the Regional Directorate of the Police Force in Nitra, told Pravda.
