It's amazing how quickly people's opinions change. Last summer, Nathan MacKinnon was saying that he would be willing to earn less money and allow his team to be more competitive in order to win a Stanley Cup.
Now that the star forward has a ring on his finger, it looks like he's about to sign the most lucrative eight-year contract in NHL history.
Adrian Dater is a tipster who follows the Colorado Avalanche, as well as being the boss of Colorado Hockey Now. He predicts MacKinnon will sign an eight-year contract worth $14.5 million a year, for a total of $116 million.
Let's face it, no matter what MacKinnon mentioned last summer, that contract would be richly deserved, especially since he finally won a championship.
