The PWHL had the names of their franchises leaked earlier today. The names of the teams are reportedly the Toronto Torch, the Montreal Echo, Ottawa Alert, Minnesota Superior, Boston Wicked, and New York Sound.

Fans Hate The Name Of The New Toronto PWHL Team
Since the leak of the names has come out several people have reacted on X. Many are not happy with the team names specifically the Toronto Torch.
whoever was in charge of naming the pwhl teams will not be seeing the pearly gates. you had a clean slate of teams with infinite naming options, and 'toronto TORCH' somehow made it past the approval stage.

Many people seem to feel that the names lack creativity and originality. While these team names have not officially been announced by the PWHL they are expected to be the names eventually.
One has to wonder if the backlash to the leak is enough to get the league to change its mind on any of the names.
