After Auston broke the Maple Leafs record for goals scored in a season with 55, he will receive a special visit this Saturday from Leafs legend Rick Vaive.
Rick Vaive broke the record of Frank Mahovlich a former Toronto Maple Leafs player.
Mahovlich had set the previous record of 48 goals in a single season in 1960-61 and was on hand to congratulate Vaive when he broke it.
Vaive was unable to join Matthews in Dallas to celebrate his record-breaking run, but has stated that he will do so on Saturday morning, like Mahovlich did previously.
Auston Matthews is becoming the best Maple Leaf of all time. At this rate he will probably win the Hart trophy and let's hope the Maple Leafs can get past the first round this year.
Hopefully one day, Auston Matthews could be there to carry the torch to the next future Maple Leafs star who will one day beat his record setting performance from this season.
