Reporter Marco D'Amico of Montreal Hockey Now has obtained information from a knowledgeable NHL source regarding a possible trade between the Flyers and Montreal Canadiens.
"If the Flyers offer a conditional 2023 second-round pick, which becomes a 2023 first-round pick (if they make the playoffs), it would make a lot of sense for both sides. If the Flyers miss the playoffs, it will be a high second round pick, if they make the playoffs, it will be a later first round pick. There could be a difference of about 15-20 picks."
In practical terms, this is what the trade would look like:
In Montreal :
A conditional 2023 first-round pick from the Philadelphia Flyers*
In Philadelphia:
*Condition: if the Flyers miss the playoffs, the first round pick becomes a second round pick and Philadelphia must add a second round pick in 2024.
