The Habs completely changed their staff last season. It was a breath of fresh air that did a lot of good for an organization that needed a drastic change.
Montreal Gazette reporter Stu Cowan spoke with commissioner Gary Bettman and the administrative changes made by the Habs were one of the topics of conversation.
According to Bettman, the Habs hit the nail on the head in every way:
« Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton have done a great job. I think Jeff really focused on the changes this franchise needed to be more competitive and I think they pushed all the right buttons to get there. » - Gary Bettman
These are quite surprising words from the Commissioner, but the best is yet to come. According to several sources, Bettman himself suggested to Geoff Molson to hire Jeff Gorton.
