According to theAtheltic, Kyle Dubas' job may be on the line. Insider Jonas Seigel has confirmed that there has been no conversations in terms of a contract extension.
Kyle Dubas will soon become the Maple Leafs' longest-serving general manager in 25 years.
The upcoming 2022-23 season will be Dubas' fifth as Leafs GM, a run that outlasts Brian Burke, Pat Quinn and every other predecessor who came before him since Cliff Fletcher was fired in 1997.
Has loyalty cost Dubas' job?
Dubas has been loyal, maybe even to a fault. He's gone above and beyond to protect his core guys, to make them feel happy and comfortable. He's never delivered harsh public criticism. He's never changed the leadership group as the Winnipeg Jets just did.
The fact that the Maple Leafs have not began contract talks should be scary for the GM.
