The Vegas Golden Knights advanced to the Stanley Cup playoffs after defeating the Colorado Avalanche 6-3 in Game 6 of their second-round series on Thursday night. That means they'll face the Montreal Canadiens, who were looking for a new opponent after sweeping the Winnipeg Jets in the second round.

Pete DeBoer, the head coach of the Vegas Golden Knights, wasted little time in preparing his team for the next battle, which begins on Monday in Vegas, and used an unusual approach to obtaining all of the information he requires to come out on top and reach the Stanley Cup final.

He spoke with his friend and Jets head coach Paul Maurice about his team's series with the Canadiens. When Maurice addressed the media for the season's end-of-season press conference on Friday, he divulged the facts.

We're curious as to what Maurice had to say to DeBoer, given that he didn't win a single game in the series. A lot of guidance was presumably offered to standout goalkeeper Carey Price, as well as firepower attackers Nick Suzuki, Tyler Toffoli, and grizzled veteran Corey Perry.

We'll see how the Golden Knights respond to that topic as the series versus the Canadiens progresses.

The Habs will be the first NHL team to cross the border this season when they go to Vegas for the first two games of the series. The NHL was given an exemption from the 14-day quarantine by the federal authorities for the final two rounds of the playoffs.
