Edmonton hoped on the ice to be prepared for tonight's game, but nothing was prepared. The players arrived 15 minutes early, but the venue staff was unhelpful and did not turn on the lights.
In addition, they hid the nets and refused to hand them over to the Oilers prior to the formal start of practice. Not a moment earlier. The arena was not even close to being ready for practice when the Oilers were permitted to skate.
The Kings practice in a separate facility than the Oilers, therefore the Oilers encountered unforeseen difficulties prior to the skate. Eventually, the Oilers' personnel found the nets and turned on the lights.
