Last March, Kent Hughes traded defenseman Ben Chiarot to the Florida Panthers in exchange for, among other things, a first-round draft pick in 2023.
The previous season, the Florida team finished first in the NHL with 122 points. It's a different story this year, with only 36 points in 38 games. They have also lost five of their last six games.
With a stat like that, the Panthers are headed for a top-10 pick. They are also getting closer to winning the lottery. Let's not forget that the 2023 draft contains some very good prospects.
Kent Hughes clearly won this trade and Panthers fans must be mad at their general manager.
