"Well, the line of communication remains open, but to be honest, there hasn't been a lot of movement, I'm told, between the two sides in a bit here," LeBrun said on TSN's Insider Trading on Tuesday. "In the meantime, there is a legit offer on the table in the KHL from CSKA Moscow, and it's a pretty big offer," LeBrun said.
"Listen, Minnesota Wild general manager Bill Guerin is aware of this. It's not like the Wild think this is a smoke screen by Kaprizov's camp. They know there's a big offer over there, and they believe they can find a way to bridge the gap here. The Wild have offered an eight-year deal, and Kaprizov's camp has countered with a shorter three-year deal.
Kaprizov, 24, had an outstanding rookie season in the NHL, winning the Calder Memorial Trophy as Rookie of the Year. He had 51 points (27 G, 24 A) in 55 regular-season games, 16 penalty minutes, and a +10 rating. This season, he also had 3 points (2 G, 1 A) in 7 playoff games.
