During Saturday's game between the Calgary Flames and the New York Rangers, tensions rose just before the start of overtime when Flames forward Nazem Kadri was handed a ten-minute misconduct and sent to the locker room.
Kadri's ejection came after he had already received a warning and engaged in an argument with the officials, according to Flames head coach Darryl Sutter. As a linesman approached the Calgary bench to inform Kadri that he was done for the night, the player stood up and directed a volley of obscenities at the official, who may have been either Francis Charron or Brandon Blandina.
In video footage of the incident, Kadri can be seen calling the linesman a "bitch" and using other offensive language. Despite the setback, the Flames were able to secure a victory in overtime, thanks in part to a powerplay goal from Mikael Backlund, his 11th of the season.
