Sometimes it's hard to understand the decision of some NHL general managers. Some trades really don't sit well with everyone, but as they often say, if Wayne Gretzky was traded, then everyone is tradeable.
For the Blackhawks, who are clearly rebuilding, the fire sale left a sour taste in the mouth of captain Jonathan Toews. After all, why part with players like Alex DeBrincat (24) and Kirby Dach (21) when the team should be building on these types of young players?
Jonathan Toews admitted that he was frustrated to hear about the departure of DeBrincat and Dach, but that he swallowed the pill and now respects the decision of his general manager. The Hawks captain had this to say about Kirby Dach:
« Dach still had a lot of potential and probably never really got his chance in Chicago. »
