Montreal Canadiens' doctor, Dr. David Mulder, met with the media to provide an update on the health of Carey Price and Jonathan Drouin.
Let's start with Price.
"It's been very difficult for him (Price), the recovery from his knee surgery has been so much longer than anyone expected. But he's progressing and he's quite a warrior, working very hard to get back to the top. His goal has always been to get there as soon as possible and I hope he does."-Dr. David Mulder
How has the management of his case gone?
"We met him initially with his injury and he wanted to go to New York for surgery, which sometimes happens. Players are encouraged to have surgery in Montreal since it's easier to supervise, but he went to a very established group there. Then we followed his fitness very closely through a program done by our therapists. He had to deal with several setbacks.
A lot of goalies have to settle for a fairly short career, but I expect him to be back."-Dr. David Mulder
Jonathan Drouin's turn.
"We always look favorably on a request like this, maybe another specialist will have a better idea than we do. But we're pretty convinced that he should have surgery. It's not a major surgery, he should be able to be ready for next season and we always respect the player's opinion" - Dr. David Mulder
So, Drouin's season would officially be over, but could play in the first game next season.
