On February 11th, 23-year-old Yegor Stronov, a defender for Dynamo-Altay in the VHL, suffered a devastating collision during a game against CSKA that resulted in the removal of one of his kidneys. The examination revealed damage to Stronov's left kidney, and unfortunately, despite the efforts of medical professionals, the organ could not be saved and had to be removed during surgery.
The team issued a statement expressing their support for Stronov and his loved ones during this difficult time, saying "We would like to express our deepest words of support to the relatives and friends of Yegor."
Despite the severity of the injury, Stronov is reportedly in serious but stable condition and is expected to make a full recovery. At this time, video of the incident has not been made publicly available.
Let's keep Yegor and his family in our thoughts and hope for a speedy recovery. The sport of hockey is known for its physicality, but it's important to remember the potential dangers and take the necessary precautions to protect the players.
