Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes announced Friday the appointment of Montreal's Christopher Boucher as director of advanced statistical analysis. Boucher becomes the first person to hold this position in Canadiens history.
Boucher spent the last two seasons with the San Jose Sharks organization as a professional scout. He previously worked for the sports analytics and artificial intelligence firm Sportlogiq. At the Montreal-based firm, Boucher held the role of director, field hockey services and analytics.
"Christopher is a specialist in advanced statistics and we are pleased to add him to our organization. We recognize the importance of advanced statistics in today's NHL and are confident that he is the right person to lead this new department," said Kent Hughes.
