HOCKEY INSIDER REVEALS THE PERFECT TRADE DESTINATION FOR JEFF PETRY
Another day comes and goes and defenceman Jeff Petry is still a member of the Montreal Canadiens. The question remains the same in Montreal it's not will the Canadiens trade Jeff Petry it's a matter of when.
The Canadiens fan base was furious after Jeff Petry didn't stand up for Habs teammate goaltender Samuel Montembeault when Zack Kassian knocked him over behind the Canadiens net. As Annik Lemire of The Habs Tonight podcast described it best saying, "Jeff didn't have to fight Kassian, just get in his face push him, verbally say things to him just do something".
While many believed Jeff Petry will be traded to Detroit because that's where Petry calls home, others believe that trade wouldn't make sense for Steve Yzerman who looks like he's building a contender in Detroit however that trade hasn't been ruled out.
There lots of noise saying a trade to Dallas is likely and Dallas reporter Eric Macramalla believes Jeff Petry to Dallas is a perfect destination. The Dallas Stars have been reportedly very interested in Petry with Stars defenceman John Klinberg asking for a trade, Jeff Petry would be his replacement and work well with a veteran Dallas Stars team.
The return for Jeff Petry could be Stars goaltender Anton Khudobin with Jake Allen out for another 5-6 weeks and no return date for Carey Price, Anton Khudobin could come in to help out the struggling duo of Samuel Montembeault and Cayden Primeau.
