On today's premiere of The Jeff Marek Show on Sportsnet, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman made a remark about Bergevin that has people talking in Montreal:
"I think that job has taken its toll on him too...I know last year he was considering walking away at the end of the season and not finishing this year, he was burned out at times, they went to the finals, kind of rejuvenated him a bit".
Bergevin was ready to step down as Habs GM last season, but the team's run to the Stanley Cup Final stopped him. That's not entirely surprising given Bergevin's statement today that he has no plans to discuss a new contract with the franchise, despite his current term expiring this season.
