Former OHLer Criminally Charged After Being Caught on Video
Recently, a disturbing video emerged showcasing an unexpected assault on an Ontario golf course. The footage reveals a man fervently sprinting across the golf green, wielding a club, and violently hitting a nearby man with it.
The content is deeply alarming. The assailant threatens to end another individual's life, and in a fit of rage, he proceeds to strike an uninvolved person on the course.
Subsequent information from the Sault St. Marie Police Department identifies the man in the footage as Joel Sandie, an ex-OHL (Ontario Hockey League) player. Sandie played hockey between 1990-1993, representing teams like the Kingston Frontenacs, Cornwall Royals, Sudbury Wolves, and the London Knights.
However, his hockey career wasn't illustrious. Over a span of three years, he managed only one goal and ten assists, failing to reach the professional echelons. Post his stint in hockey, Sandie transitioned to a career in real estate, now operating as an agent in Sault St. Marie. However, he is now in the midst of a legal battle. Charged with assault using a weapon on September 18th, Sandie faces the task of defending his actions seen in the video in a court of law.
