Aaron Ekblad hasn't played in the NHL since March 17th when he injured his right leg. The Florida Panthers placed Ekblad on injured reserve a few days later, terminating his season.

Before the accident, Ekblad was a Norris Trophy candidate. He had 57 points in 61 games, a +38 plus/minus, and averaged 24:55 a game.

On 5 on 5, Ekblad had a GAA of +4.8, 7th in the league. Only Cale Makar had superior 5-on-5 stats. On Monday, the team's standout defensemen got wonderful news.

Ekblad took part in the team's on-ice practise for the first time since March. On the top pairing, he was matched with MacKenzie Weager. To have Ekblad as their most important defenseman would be a major boost for the Panthers.
