Five Teams Emerge As Front-Runners in the Jakob Chychrun Sweepstakes
Jakob Chychrun is one of the most highly touted defenders on the market right now. He has put up strong showings on brutal Arizona teams, and he would be an exceptional piece for a playoff team needing a boost to add. His incredibly team friendly contract of 4.6-million annually equally makes him incredibly valuable.
Three Canadian team have emerged as front runners. These are the Edmonton Oilers, Toronto Maple Leafs and Ottawa Senators.
With the Oilers goaltending still not performing well, despite the bringing in of Jack Campbell, Chychrun could be an important defensive piece.
The Maple Leafs have never had the strongest defense, and that has been proven quickly this season. Chychrun would slot in on their top pair, and even out Morgan Rielly's unilaterally offensive game.
The Senators may not be a playoff team just yet, but they are clearly making the push in that direction. Chychrun's low cap-hit would make him an ideal target for their long term cap management.
The other two teams linked to Chychrun are the New York Islanders and Columbus Blue Jackets.
