Johnny Gaudreau had the best season of his career during his UFA year. He chose to leave Calgary and sign in Columbus.
Below are all the offers he refused:
Can also confirm that Calgary's last offer to Johnny Gaudreau was 8 years x $10.5 M AAV.
So as expected the star UFA leaves money on the table to go East.
Although still a nice deal with Columbus obviously.
Not sure how much of an appetite the Islanders had to go too far north of $9M AAV on a 7-year deal for Gaudreau... which leaves them sitting at the sweet table with an empty plate.
The New Jersey Devils offered Gaudreau north of $10 million AAV on a seven-year deal and he chose to go to Columbus.
With Gaudreau reportedly wanting to sign close to home, what does that say about the state of the Devils franchise?
Sounds like Johnny Gaudreau left somewhere between $15-17.5 million on the table in Calgary by choosing Columbus, depending on final total.
Not sure anyone saw that coming.
The team at Hockey Patrol was really really surprised with Johnny Hockey's decision. Were you?
