Evander Kane settles lawsuit with Buffalo woman
Documents filed in 2016 on behalf of Kuechle claim Kane met her in a pub, invited her to a party, then attacked her with wounds and bleeding that necessitated multiple surgeries. Her lawyers claim she experienced "severe emotional anguish" and "serious, lasting and painful physical damage."
More from The Athletic's Daniel Kaplan: Kuechle sued Kane in 2016. Her complaint outlined how Kane met her on the evening of Dec. 26, 2015, at Encore Restaurant in Buffalo, where Kane played for the Sabres. While there, he provided her with alcohol, according to the complaint. The complaint states that later that night, he invited her to the Buffalo Marriott Harbor Center «under the false pretext of attending a party at his hotel room.»
Kane's counter-lawsuit, which claims defamation on Kuechle's part, has also been included in the settlement.
This revelation is but a footnote to Kane's ongoing legal fights. Without getting into detail about Kane's legal history, he is currently in bankruptcy court, divorce court, and is undergoing a mediation process with the San Jose Sharks on what he believes to be unjust termination.
This man will never learn.
