Los Angeles Kings forward Phillip Danault spoke with reporter Helene Elliott, who is assigned to cover the California team.

Danault, 29, began by mentioning that he had bet on him for the first time in his life.

"For the first time, I bet on myself and I think it was the right decision. I felt inside that I had something more to offer, something more to grow my game to another level and I think I'm realizing that right now." - Phil Danault

In the conversation with Elliott, this is where Danault throws an arrow at the Tricolore.

"I needed an organization that believed in me and I think the L.A. Kings were the perfect place for me. They showed me a lot of love in the market and they showed me exactly what I wanted to see. They gave me a real good chance to reach my goals," said the Victoriaville native.

He ends the discussion by talking about how it ended with the CH.

"I think we (Phillip and his family) were ready for something else and it became even more true when we saw that they (the Montreal Canadiens) weren't too interested in re-signing us. So we were ready to leave." - Phil Danault
