Crazy trade proposal involving the Habs at the upcoming draft
With the Habs finishing last in the league, we are sure that Hughes and Gorton will have a top three pick in the draft at the Bell Centre this July.
With an 18.5% chance of getting the first pick, many Habs fans are already dreaming about Shane Wright's presence with the team next fall, but for some insiders, the speculations are going well and one of them would have a suggestion to propose to the new Canadiens' management.
As reported by Marco Normandin of Habsolumentfan.com, Mathias Brunet is proposing that Kent Hughes trade the very first pick, assuming of course the Habs win the lottery, in return for the sixth and twelfth picks overall.
If this idea seems a bit far-fetched, the journalist from La Presse has done the exercise with the previous six years of the draft and on some occasions, the results can seem quite surprising.
2020 - Alexis Lafreniere against Jamie Drysdale and Anton Lundell
2018 - Rasmus Dahlin vs. Filip Zadina and Noah Dobson
2016 - Auston Matthews vs. Matthew Tkachuk and Michael McLeod
We can immediately rule out trading Matthews, but for the other top picks, we can think about it a little more seriously.
