Recently, the Oilers upped their age restriction to the watch parties. At first, this seemed like a good idea for the protection of the children but now it is raising some new questions.
In an alcohol-fueled rage, two drunken Oilers fans were videotaped fighting in a gruesome manner.

As seen in the video, two Oilers fans are beating the life out of each other. Going blow for blow with no rules, hundreds of other fans sit idly by. While the Oilers upped the age restriction to prevent children from witnessing something like this firsthand, it is clear not letting children in was enough to prevent these kinds of situations.
In another video, multiple women can be seen brawling and police getting involved and separating the brawlers.
The safety of bystander fans is surely in question and it makes one wonder if there should be increased security at these events.
At the end of the day, they are all hockey fans and only want to see their team win.
