The National Hockey League introduced the shootout as a way to end a tie in 2005-06.
A guest on Tim & Friends on Sportsnet, McDavid harshly criticised the method.
"Nobody likes a shootout. It's a shitty way to end a game!" - Connor McDavid
The player would rather end a game with 10 minutes of 3-on-3 overtime, and believes it would be more interesting for fans to see a longer overtime period than a shootout.
Recall that the shootout was originally introduced to provide a better spectacle for fans.
