Did you think Carey Price's lack of protection came from Marc Bergevin? Well no, it comes from the goalie himself.
In an interview with the guys at The Blue Pocket, Carey explained what he told Bergevin to convince him to protect Jake Allen instead of himself:
"A few days before [the expansion draft], I talked to Bergevin about it and with my contract and my injury, I told him that I thought we'd make a good move by making me available, because I didn't think they'd pick me, when it was a strategic move to be able to protect another player." - Carey Price
Lapierre concluded by saying:
"It's the answer we were hoping for!"
Indeed, it's pretty rare to see a player interfering with a GM's decisions and it proves again what a great leader Price is for the organization.
