Breaking: Hockey Star Amanda Kessel Soars to a New Role in the Penguins' Front Office!
Year after year, women's hockey is improving in many ways, giving young girls the opportunity to see their heroes in more and more situations, and from that, we've seen many stars rise into significant ranks throughout the hockey world.
Three time Olympic Medalist
One of the biggest stars we've seen in this field is Amanda Kessel, who has helped the US Women's team to three olympic medals, including gold back in 2018, and now, she's on the rise again.
In April, Kessel once again showed off her dominance as she scored nine points in seven games as the US Women's team claimed gold in the IIHF Women's World Championships once again.
A brand new role
Now, the Pittsburgh Penguins have promoted Kessel to the role of Special Assistant to President of Hockey Operations and General Manager after she has excelled in previous roles with the team.
Kessel has previously worked within an executive management program with the franchise, but now takes a massive step up, and while her specific duties haven't yet been revealed, it's a well deserved promotion.
