Blake Wheeler's reaction to being stripped of his title as Jets captain
Winnipeg Jets forward Blake Wheeler broke his silence today following the announcement of the removal of the "C" on his jersey.
You know, there was a little bit of surprise, I think. After the kind of year (the Jets have had), the first conversation with the new coach was surprising. But I had time to get over it, so he gave me a little bit of a head start. I had time to absorb it (the news)."
What explains such a decision by head coach Rick Bowness?
"I wouldn't want to speculate. I'm not going to tell you what I think they think. Certainly after disappointing seasons, there are conversations between management and not just me, but every player on the team."
Clearly, this kind of decision must hurt his ego a lot. Will he be one of the assistants?
