Patrick Roy, the popular favourite, will also be officially met! Lavoie said it will be done by tomorrow night.
He will have the chance to impress the Canadiens' selection committee, which includes Bob Gainey, Jeff Gorton, Michael Andlauer, and Geoff Molson:
"The first round of interviews will end on Friday, if all goes according to plan. We are meeting virtually with two to three candidates a day. - Renaud Lavoie
"There may be a second round next week with the goal, within ten days, of making a big announcement."
In addition to Roy, the Habs crew is considering Daniel Briere, Mathieu Darche, Danielle Sauvageau, Émilie Castonguay, Marc Denis, Stéphane Quintal, Roberto Luongo, and possibly Kent Hughes.
Remember Roy's recent declaration of interest in the GM position of the Montreal Canadiens:
- "What do they have to lose by trying me. It's not that big a challenge."
- "Since 1993, the club has been going in circles. We all know what the problem was. Trevor Timmins hurt Marc Bergevin. Marc, he's a loyal guy and he's been behind him."
- "He (Bergevin) is leaving several draft picks for his replacement. It's a very interesting challenge." - Patrick Roy
Roy also stated loudly that he would like to work with Jeff Gorton, whom he has met before.
