According to reports from insider Craig Morgan, who covers Arizona Coyotes activities, the Tempe City Council, which is scheduled to vote Nov. 29 to approve the new complex project, may ultimately shift that vote into the hands of citizens in a referendum.
A few stakeholders are against the project, including Sky Harbor International Airport, the city of Phoenix, the Goldwater Institute and local citizen groups.
Unfortunately for the Coyotes, this could cause a huge delay in construction.
Estimated to cost $2 billion, privately funded, the complex will include an amphitheater, hotels, approximately 1,600 apartments, stores and restaurants.
