Patrick Roy is receiving the ultimate honor of having an award named after him.

Trophy To Be Named After Roy

Reports have emerged that Patrick Roy will be having an award in the QMJHL named after him.

" Commissioner Mario Cecchini will confirm this during a press conference organized on the sidelines of the Quebec Remparts game on Sunday, before which the champion banners of the Gilles-Courteau Trophy and the Memorial Cup will be raised. Roy will also be there. - TVA Nouvelles

The Patrick Roy Award will go out to the QMJHL's best goaltender which is quite an achievement. Roy is known for his outstanding track record in the NHL with the Canadiens and the Avalanche but he was not the greatest goaltender in the QMJHL.

In his three-year QMJHL career, Roy went 58-86-3 and had his best season statistically with a 4.49 GAA and a .873 SV%.

Despite these lackluster stats in junior, Roy proved to be elite at the NHL level and is now a hall-of-fame goaltender. He is also a co-owner of the Quebec Remparts and coached them to a Memorial Cup last season.
