Mikael Hakkarainen, who was the sole piece traded to the Vegas Golden Knights for Marc-Andre Fleury, has retired at the age of 24 due to congenital heart disease.

Hakkarainen was never signed by Las Vegas after the trade and head to Sweden to play for Vasteras IK in the Hockeyallsvenskan, where he put up three goals and 14 points in 26 games played.
