A contract that could come back to haunt the Avalanche in a few years

The Colorado Avalanche have agreed to terms with forward Valeri Nichushkin on an eight-season contract, according to The Athletic's Pierre LeBrun.
The deal will pay him a total of $49 million, or $6.125 million per year.
The Russian has had one good season in the NHL and that was in 2021-2022. He had 52 points in 62 games and added 15 points in 20 playoff games.
