You should be aware that it was on the verge of happening at the draft table a few years ago.
It's a story many already know, but on his most recent episode of the 32 Thoughts podcast, Elliotte Friedman brought it all back.
So you can guess that it's started the buzz again.
According to Friedman's information, the Montreal Canadiens and Vancouver Canucks had a huge trade planned involving defenseman P.K. Subban for the 2016 NHL Draft.
Also according to Friedman, it was the fact that the Columbus Blue Jackets drafted Pierre-Luc Dubois with the third overall pick in 2016 that caused the trade to be completely scrapped.
Vancouver was drafting 5th overall that year. Was Bergevin going for the 5th pick to select Dubois? Possibly!
Finally, as you know, Marc Bergevin finally sent P.K. Subban to Nashville, in exchange for
Shea Weber.
Also during this same episode last Friday, Friedman and Marek mentioned this:
They also add that Jeff Gorton and the New York Rangers were desperate to get a top-10 pick to draft young
Clayton Keller, but to no avail.
