New York Rangers fans will be disappointed to learn that one fan-favorite forward appeared to suffer a rather serious injury tonight.

Wheeler Helped Off Ice After Suffering Knee Injury

The 37-year-old forward appeared to injury his right knee tonight on a play along the boards. If you look closely at his right leg you can see his knee appear to hyperextend behind him. Then later, when he tried to get up, his ankle appeared to give out on him when he tried to put weight on it.

Blake Wheeler had to leave the ice after this hit by Struble. Didn't look good. Watch his right leg.

Wheeler To Face Potentially Career-Ending Injury

The Rangers veteran had to be helped off the ice by his teammates as he could not put any weight on his right leg at all. Considering his age, this type of injury could be career-threatening. If it is as bad as it looked, he could be out for the remainder of the season. Considering that he is on a one-year deal with the Rangers, this means we could have just seen his last game in the NHL. Wheeler has 9 goals and 21 points through 51 games with the Rangers this season. He has 321 goals and 943 career points across 1171 career games played.
