It is not often that two landmark events in the league come on the same day. March 8th happens to be the day that brought three of the scariest injuries in league history.

The Most Dangerous Day in NHL History

Hockey fanatic Mike Commito posts daily updates on important events in league history. Today was a big one, as three of the NHLs most gruesome injuries happened on March 8th's in the past.

On March 8th, 2004, Todd Bertuzzi punched Steve Moore to the back of the head. This injury ended Moore's career, and later ended in a lawsuit to Bertuzzi.

On March 8th, 2007, Chris Simon threw one of the most violent slashes in league history on Ryan Holloweg. Simon was assessed an incredibly 25-game suspension.

Finally, on March 8th, 2011, Zdeno Chara ended Max Pacioretty's season with a horrifying check to the boards (even scarier considering Chara is 6'9").

It's safe to say that NHLers that have done their history lessons will stay prudent on March 8ths in the future. This is a streak nobody wants to continue.
