The Toronto Maple Leafs find themselves on the brink of elimination by the Florida Panthers, having fallen 3-0 in their best-of-seven series.
Following their loss on Sunday, the media has been heavily critical of the team, particularly their core players who have been perceived as lackluster throughout the series so far.
However, a silver lining might be on the horizon for the Leafs. Hockey Insider Renaud Lavoie revealed on social media that Leafs forward Matthew Knies was seen on the ice on Tuesday.
Knies has been sidelined ever since an incident where his head was forcefully hit against the ice by Panthers forward Sam Bennett. Following the incident, the Leafs announced that Knies would likely miss the remainder of the series due to a concussion.
Despite the setback, Knies has been a refreshing addition to the team since joining just before the playoffs. His promotion to the top line has been a notable improvement, and his potential clearance to return would undoubtedly be a morale boost for Leafs Nation.
