Terrible news has come out of Toronto tonight after a bad hit on Timothy Liljegren.
The Worst Is Confirmed For Liljegren
Timothy Liljegren was injured on a dirty slew foot hit by Brad Marchand earlier tonight. He did not return to the game and we were awaiting the prognosis of his injury.
NHL referees don't think this is a penalty on Marchand
Now that the game has ended we have gotten an update on Liljegren and unfortunately, the news is not good.
Per @lukefoxjukebox, Toronto coach Sheldon Keefe says Timothy Liljegren will miss «significant time.»
Sheldon Keefe calls Timothy Liljegren's injury «significant» and «not short-term.»
While the injury specifics have not been confirmed the Maple Leafs are preparing to be without Liljegren for a significant amount of time. Liljegren had been off to a good start this season playing an average around 20 minutes a night. Now the Maple Leafs will have to fill a huge hole on an already struggling blue line.
