The Washington Capitals will move from DC to northern Virginia and now we know the exact time they will do so.

Washington Capitals Expected To Move in 2028

This morning the Washington Capitals owner Ted Leonsis has announced that the Capitals will be moving out from DC into Alexandria, Virginia in 2028.

Media conference with Capitals/Wizards owner Ted Leonsis begins in about 10 minutes � to announce organization reached a «framework» to move its operations and build a new arena in Virginia's Potomac Yard by 2028.

This gives the Capitals roughly 4 and a half more years in their current arena before they move to Virginia.

The Capitals have been playing in Capital One Arena since 1997 but now will begin a new chapter in the coming years.

A Multi-Billion Dollar Plan

One of the main factors that is pulling the Capitals out of DC is the $2 billion sports complex that will be built in Alexandria.

D.C. sports fans check out your new arena that will be home to the Caps and Wizards.

It will be located at Potomac Yard in Alexandria, Virginia.

Governor Glenn Youngkin said it will be a $2 billion sports and entertainment district.

30,000 new jobs.

This will certainly be good for the surrounding economy and will allow for the Capitals to become even more profitable than ever.
