According to The Fourth Period's David Pagnotta, the St. Louis Blues may be willing to deal Brayden Schenn as the Maple Leafs could look to add him in their top-six.

Last season was quite the surprise for the St. Louis Blues as they ended up making the playoffs after a strong finish to the season, although they lost in seven games to the Winnipeg Jets.
It was something that was expected to propel them into a playoff push this season but it's been anything but. With a 5-8-2 record and already finding themselves embroiled in some drama, the Blues are at an impasse this year.

Blues Dangling Their Captain Amidst Struggling Season

If things don't turn around, they could end up selling off their veterans and trying to accelerate a rebuild and according to The Fourth Period's David Pagnotta; they could possibly dangle their captain.
In the latest episode of the DFO Rundown, Pagnotta explained that the Blues could sell their assets if things continue to free fall, and the Toronto Maple Leafs are a team who could use their veterans -- specifically Brayden Schenn:
If the Blues continue to falter, teams in need of extra firepower in their top six such as the Leafs, along with a few other Eastern Conference teams; could show interest in Brayden Schenn.

He's a player some contending teams are curious about and may pursue at some point this season.

Schenn's name was thrown around a bunch last season towards the trade deadline but nothing materialized as the Blues felt they were able to make a push with him, and did to some degree.
The Maple Leafs absolutely could use a presence like Schenn, and while it may end up costing them a bit; it's certainly worth it.

Why Toronto Overpaying For Brayden Schenn May Be Worth It

He has a ton of success and experience playing under Craig Berube including a Stanley Cup in 2018-19, can slide into anywhere in the lineup, and would provide even more of an offensive and physical punch.
You're adding someone who knows how to win, who can fit into your top-nine seamlessly and also give you a player who can consistently give you 20+ goals in the regular season and a solid amount of playoff production.
Now we aren't saying go ahead and send Easton Cowan away, however the team does have a few interesting pieces and might be willing to part with someone like Ben Danford or build a package around Nick Robertson (though he may have played himself out of a trade).
But even adding a couple of picks in there and paying him his contract is worth it, as you're getting someone who doesn't need time to learn the system, brings exactly the type of skillset you want, and has that star name value the team covets.
It has been rough for the Maple Leafs in the past when it comes to making a deal for a veteran come playoff time, however Brayden Schenn is clearly motivated to win and could do so again under Craig Berube.
This time however, in a uniform emblazoned with a blue and white Maple Leaf.
