Toronto Maple Leafs forward William Nylander has been making some interesting comments as of late, and it appears as though he has a diagnosis for his team.

William Nylander is having himself a solid start ot the season, as he has 21 points in the first 17 games, which includes 10 goals and 11 assists.

Recently, Nylander was honest about his game, stating that he feels as though he hasn't been getting the puck enough. His head coach, Jim Hiller, was quick to explain that this is a function of him not getting back into the defensive zone.

Interestingly enough, Nylander had some more comments about his team. While speaking to the media on Wednesday, he appeared to diagnose the Leafs' biggest problem.

William Nylander keeps it real

Most would say the Maple Leafs' largest issue right now is their defense and their goaltending. Both have struggled and have lost the Leafs some winnable games.

However, Nylander sees it differently. He believes that communication breakdowns are the biggest issue right now, and it is something the team needs to work on going forward.

I think just getting a little bit sorted. You know, sometimes when the system breaks down, just to sort it out a little bit, talk a little bit more.

This shouldn't be a massive surprise, all things considered. After all, the team has a new head coach in Jim Hiller, who is still trying to get his system in place.

Many of the veteran Leafs players are still trying to learn this system, and therefore, communicating exactly what's wrong and how to fix it can be a challenge.

That said, this is not something that is unfixable for the Maple Leafs. Regardless, it is going to take time, and it is not a situation that will just be rectified overnight.

The Leafs will have two opportunities to prove themselves this weekend as they take on the Montreal Canadiens Saturday, and the New Jersey Devils on Sunday.
