Toronto Maple Leafs forward William Nylander won't appear in Thursday's game vs. Winnipeg and his status for Saturday is also in question.

It's been rough this season for the Maple Leaf when it comes to injury issues, and while they are slowly getting some of their injured back, many key names still remain out including Chris Tanev, Dakota Joshua, and Brandon Carlo.
Another important player (arguably the team's most crucial one right now) in William Nylander, who missed the last game against New Jersey. He leads the team in points and assists and has been a bright spot in a tough stretch so far this year.

Nylander not ready just yet, could return Saturday

But he still remains day-to-day and according to Craig Berube, he's going to miss at least another game.
Speaking to reporters, Berube clarified that because Nylander had limited time on the ice only doing a few drills, he won't practice tomorrow either and his status for Saturday is still questionable considering he's not getting on the ice much:
I would say he's doubtful to practise with us tomorrow, but you never know. He comes in tomorrow and he's feeling like he wants to get on the ice with the team, hopefully that's true, and he is feeling better. We'll have to see.
It's the dreaded day-to-day curse that seems to plague the Maple Leafs, and at this point we need to look at that diagnosis as something to take on a week-to-week basis instead.
Nylander last played on Dec. 27, and if he misses Saturday's game vs. the Islanders then it would be a full week he's been out. Day-to-day means a couple here and there; so a bit more transparency would be great.
The star forward has 41 points in 33 games so far this season (14 goals, 27 assists) and though he has dealt with some criticism at times for his effort level, he's shown exactly why Toronto has invested so much time and money into him.
All we can hope for is that Nylander will make his return sooner than later, but the Maple Leafs need to make sure they don't rush him back and risk losing him for a longer period; something they can't afford to have happen.
