William Nylander ended up hitting the 40-goal plateau for the third straight year but his focus isn't on his own personal accolades.

Coming off an absolute dismantling of the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday, the Toronto Maple Leafs are riding high into their next game with one goal on their mind: Repeat the exact same performance.
Speaking of goals, William Nylander ended up with two of Toronto's and reached the 40-goal plateau for the third straight season. It was a huge accomplishment for the star forward, but his mind wasn't focused on his milestones, but rather what the team can accomplish together.
That's pretty cool, but my focus is on the playoffs. Just trying to do what I'm paid to do. That's it.

Nylander Focused Solely On Playoffs

It seems that personal accomplishments play second fiddle to the Swedish winger, and while there's no doubt he's consistently one of the best in the world at scoring, especially the last two seasons, it's the Stanley Cup that remains the ultimate goal.
But personal accomplishments shouldn't be overlooked, as Nylander has 77 points in 71 games (40G, 31A) with nine points over his last five games.
Toronto will need him to put his goal-scoring prowess on full display come playoff time, and it's the perfect opportunity for not only Nylander, but Mitch Marner and Auston Matthews to pick things up too.
Marner is having a career year, Matthews has struggled but is still putting up respectable numbers, and John Tavares doesn't look his age whatsoever; putting up another 30-goal season.
But if those types of numbers don't show up in the playoffs, it's going to be a tough road for the Maple Leafs, so it's imperative that all these players keep riding a hot streak and building a foundation of momentum heading into the postseason.
The team will have a chance to add to their goal-scoring outbursts as they take on the San Jose Sharks on Thursday in California, though the last time these two teams met, it was the Sharks taking a bite out of the Leafs with a 3-2 shootout win.
Let's just hope that Nylander can continue his goal-scoring ways, and maybe see him push the 50-goal mark and truly prove that he's unquestionably one of the NHL's best.
