With the Utah Mammoth missing out on Connor Hellebuyck, they are still trying to upgrade their goaltending, and the Toronto Maple Leafs may have a deal.
Karel Vejmelka is the current goaltender for the Utah Mammoth, and according to insider Nick Kypreos, the franchise isn't certain that he is the goalie of the future.
They were trying to trade for Connor Hellebuyck, although the netminder ended up in New Jersey. Now, the Mammoth could be looking to make a deal with someone else.
The Mammoth are not sold on Karel Vejmelka being the No. 1 who can get them through the [playoffs]; if a deal can be found here to bring in...someone with experience...Vejmelka would become a movable piece

This begs the question: Would the Toronto Maple Leafs want to get involved and do a one-for-one swap involving backup netminder Anthony Stolarz?
Is Stolarz for Vejmelka feasible?
From a contract standpoint, it should be noted that Vejmelka still has another four years left on his deal at $4.75 million per season. Meanwhile, Anthony Stolarz also has four years left on his deal at $3.75 million.
With this in mind, this would be a later move for both teams when it comes to the size of each contract. Although for the Leafs, it would be an extra $1 million that they probably wouldn't want to spend.
As for their statistics, Vejmelka has more starts, but his career goals-against average is 3.08, while Stolarz's is 2.66. As for save percentage, Stolarz is at .913, and Vejmelka is at .899.
Vejmelka has proven that he is not the guy to be a number-one goalie on a competitive team. In that same breath, Stolarz has not accomplished enough to be considered a starter on any team.
This ultimately makes a deal a hard sell for both teams. Furthermore, if the Leafs were to trade Stolarz away, they would be doing it to uplift Artur Akhtyamov. That means they would not want a goalie in return.
Ultimately, this kind of move would be a lateral one, and at this point in his tenure, it's not the kind of move general manager John Chayka really wants to make. Instead, he will be looking to take big swings.
Should the Toronto Maple Leafs swap Anthony Stolarz for Karel Vejmelka
