The Toronto Maple Leafs are reportedly closing in on an agreement towards a contract extension with forward Tyler Bertuzzi.
Brad Treliving will have his hands dirty this off-season with many problems to address. The first one will be the abundance of free agents that are in need of new contracts such as Timothy Liljegren, Max Domi, Tyler Bertuzzi and Connor Dewar. However, Bertuzzi may be seeing himself locked in Toronto before the July 1st deadline reaches.
The #LeafsForever remain in contract negotiations with Tyler Bertuzzi's camp. Still too early to determine where it goes, but I'm told both sides «continue to work at it» ahead of him hitting UFA status July 1.
During his tenure as a Toronto Maple Leaf, Tyler Bertuzzi had a slow start, however he picked it up in the second half of the season where he finished with 43 points across 80 games. Bertuzzi, known for his grit, can remain a crucial piece to the team Brad Treliving is trying to build in Toronto.
Max Domi may be the odd man out of the equation if Tyler Bertuzzi agrees to a deal in Toronto, as it seems unlikely they will have the means to fit both of them in the Six.
