It seems as though over the last few months we have heard non-stop rumors involving Leafs forward
Mitch Marner, however it seems as though
John Tavares rumors have been picking up steam. The Maple Leafs captain has a no-movement clause (NMC) as he heads into the final year of his contract with the club. It's not going to be easy to trade Tavares, however the difficulty of a trade hasn't stopped fans from sharing their trade proposals online.
A very interesting trade proposal has surfaced that would have the Toronto Maple Leafs receive three huge pieces from the Seattle Kraken in exchange for captain Tavares, who is expected to be paid $11 million next season.
With the additions of Gourde and Schwartz, Toronto would get a 3C and a bottom six forward, as well as a second-round pick in the 2025 NHL entry draft, and all the Leafs would have to do is give up Tavares, which would really help Seattle as they hope to return to the playoffs after missing it last season. In order for this trade to happen, Tavares would have to waive his NMC to facilitate the trade to Seattle, and there's no guarantee he would be willing to do that, however after the most recent scandal linking him to unpaid taxes, he may want to get out of Canada after all.
The upcoming season is set to begin in roughly two months, so if the Leafs are looking to shake things up, this massive potential blockbuster trade would do exactly that.
