The Toronto Maple Leafs have reportedly signed Timothy Liljegren to a two year contract extension.

Pending RFA Timothy Liljegren has signed a two year extension with the Toronto Maple Leafs at a 3 million dollar AAV. Liljegren was a pending rfa and had to be qualified before the 5pm deadline on June 30th or else he would become a unrestricted free agent.

Timothy Liljegren has signed a two-year deal with the Leafs. $3 million cap hit.

Earlier today, it was reported that the Leafs were trying to move his rights, however he agreed to a deal with the Leafs later on during the day. A possible trade can still happen however.

On Timothy Liljegren's status:

If I had to guess, Leafs are trying desperately to move his rights to a team that is, at minimum, comfortable with his arbitration. Return at this stage, if any, would likely be pennies on the dollar.

If his rights aren't moved - which is to say, if given the choice between arbitration & letting him walk, my sense is they're leaning toward the latter.

More details to come
